In today’s world computer games are very developed, they are played by everyone – from small to large. Each of us at least once in our lives downloaded online entertainment and compete with friends or just virtual acquaintances. An alternative to such games can only be tabletop. The variety of genres and themes is truly amazing.

Some games are fast and last no more than half an hour. Others, on the contrary, “hardcore” and can stretch for hours or even days. Among the variety, you can find entertainment for a large company and for two people. One thing is certain – you will never get tired of playing these games, they always want to come back again and again.

Board games better than computer games?

Whatever computer games you have not taken, regardless of its genre, you will find that it either took its origin from the desktop entertainment, or gave rise to the family of the latter.

Of course, devotees of computer entertainment will name their many virtues. But simple board games also have their advantages. And the first of them is that such entertainment is not designed for one person, and for a large company.

Advantages of board games

The second important advantage is that these board games unite friends, make them interact, give them a common goal. Yes, of course, with the dynamics of computer entertainment nothing compares. But it does not give the possibility of communication, these games are often single, as opposed to desktop games. Just imagine how great with friends to unpack the box, read the rules together, distribute gaming material and great company to participate in an exciting gameplay. And the excitement, the spirit of competition? With them, after all, nothing compares!

Among the other advantages of board games are the following.

  • Versatility. Based on the existing game you can easily come up with your own version. In addition, it is easy to change the composition of the entertainment.
  • Benefits. Playing, a person develops useful skills. Such entertainment, unlike computer, do not cause addiction and dependence.
  • The absence of violence. In his table games do not meet.
  • Independence. You can play board games even in the absence of electricity.
  • The development of imagination. Board games allow you to develop their own imagination and at the same time do not “sit” eyesight.

Time flies by with board games. Such entertainment is interesting and exciting, will be a great solution for the company of any age.

The main thing to remember is that the game must be fun and interesting, then you will definitely not be bored! After all, board games help to spend time with benefit and pleasure.

Target audience

Kids – Kids don’t buy board games for themselves. They don’t really need them. Usually parents give them to them because many children’s board games are educational in nature and contribute to the general education of a child. Usually they are simple logic games and puzzles, or games for memory training. It is clear that there are tons of them, and it is a separate section of the NI market.

Office plankton – yes, the NI have become very popular in offices and now almost everyone has his own box of “Mafia”, “Dixit” or “Munchkin. These games are partly bought by office managers – a few boxes at a time. Get them at corporate parties and play. These games usually have simple rules and are often entertaining. This includes games for companies. In Russia, most domestic development hits this niche, if only because it is large, the office workers themselves are not fastidious and they have money.

Families – games are often bought for the family to play together – with children or with close friends. Such people mostly buy what the seller recommends and are very amenable to advertising. They usually don’t follow the NI world and don’t know what’s on trend at Essen. They come in, they ask, they happen to buy. This is a very broad segment of the population and most games are right for them.

The middle tier – this is where I refer to people who have a soft spot for NI, but approach it more thoroughly than the average mortal, but they are far from being geeks. I’m probably a mid-tier kind of guy myself. I don’t buy complicated games like Sickle or Descent, but I won’t buy Munchkin, either. I want a mid-level game with simple, straightforward rules in a certain setting. That’s why I watch hour-long playthroughs of games I’m interested in and only then decide whether or not to buy them. I have a very small collection of games for this reason.

The geeks are the real elite of NI fans. In fact, they’re the ones who sit on all the blogs, sites like Tesera and others. They’re the ones who love complex, huge games weighing 10 kilos each. They are the ones who are picky about the quality of components or are naughty when the game is not designed the way they like. They are the high society and blue bloods, who look with contempt at all the other NI fans, they are the ones who have so many boxes on their shelves at home, which are absent in big Moscow stores. They are the ones who buy games for 20,000 rubles per box on Kickstarter and replay “Arkham Horror” more than 3 times. Bloggers, game developers, it’s all them too. Given everything I wrote above, you should already understand that making a game for this audience in Russia at the moment is almost impossible. This is the most sophisticated audience, and if you say you made your game just for them, get ready for a real beating.
